Keela Saxon Jacket and Keela Neck Tube
With this past 12 months making everyones routines and habits change we’ve been cycling more as we couldn’t drive to our local hiking trails with them being too far away. We’ve spent some money on new bikes and got out on them, starting new adventures straight out of the shed! After a few rides you start to notice other items you need to make your cycling days more comfortable, and better suited clothing is top of the list.
One thing is always certain in the U.K., you can never be too certain what the weather is going to throw at you. You’ve got to be prepared for a change in the conditions when you’re out exploring, locally or further afield. A great waterproof coat is really important so when we got the chance to test out the Saxon Jacket from Keela we jumped at the chance. Keela is an outdoors clothing company built to survive the toughest conditions. From their beginnings, in harsh Scottish winters, they’ve designed and refined their products to stand up to the most relentless bike rides you can muster.
Our first impressions of the coat were good. It was lightweight but had a strong feel to it. The collar, cuffs, zipper and hood felt sturdy and it was very comfortable. The sleeves are baggier than other cycling coats we’ve worn before, but make the coat feel cooler and less restrictive when riding. The technical material its made from is called Flylite Aqua which is very lightweight and very breathable. Its reflective highlights are a great added bonus making you safer for when you’re on the road. The hood is larger allowing it to comfortably fit over a bike helmet. This is something we’ve never had in a coat before and we were surprised how natural this felt. When not in use the hood simply rolls up and is secured with a velcro tab. The coat has 3 water resistant pockets with one of these on the back where every cyclist likes to keep their snacks!
A great accompaniment to the coat is the Keela Neck Tube with ViralOff treatment. Like all neck tubes it can be worn in a number of ways to either keep you warm or to keep the sweat off your face when exercising. We love using a neck tube, especially in spring when the days start off cool and you need that bit of warmth when you start off on your day of adventuring. ViralOff protects the wearer from harmful bacteria such as influenza. ViralOff also has antibacterial properties making the neck tube less pongy after a day of use.
We’re super impressed with both the Saxon coat and the Neck Tube. Keela really have made some top quality garments that are going to make our cycling trips a lot more comfortable and warmer. Keela have a fantastic range of mens, womens and kids clothing and accessories ready to protect you from the elements. All are available to buy via their website.
